Geneva Rock Ogden

PROJECT DETAILS

Geneva Rock’s Ogden facility is a multi-building campus with elements of every type of commercial construction from modern executive offices to heavy-duty equipment repair and maintenance facilities, to industrial process mixing and manufacturing. Jeremy’s Electrical Maintenance and Contracting was responsible for electrical design and installation in four buildings on this campus

Office

Geneva Rock’s Ogden office is a two-story office building with a mixture of executive offices and mixed use/shared spaces.  The office building combines elegant lighting with modern energy management technologies to create a bright, active environment. The building features decorative lighting in multiple conference rooms with selectable scene control, powered window blinds, and conference tables with power and data installed sub-grade. The dispatch/call center and executive offices have convenient electrical features including wall mounted monitors and automatic lighting controls, and shared workspaces are all designed with ample access to power and data to meet the needs of an evolving workforce. Power to this office building is supplied by a 400 amp CT service that supplies 3phase 480v interior distribution. A 150kva transformer feeds 3phase 120-208v interior utilization panels as well as a 200amp elevator controller with shunt trip.

Shop

The Maintenance Shop is the central building at Geneva Rock’s Ogden Campus.  The main purpose of this building is to facilitate the repair and maintenance of Geneva Rock’s massive fleet of concrete trucks and service vehicles. This building is powered by a 1175 amp 480v  switchgear with a network of power panels and transformers throughout the facility. Uninterrupted power is available to these panels by utilizing the installed transfer switches to connect to mobile generator power. The shop has a main service area with dozens of 480v 3 phase powered overhead doors serving maintenance bays. Powered equipment in the maintenance shop includes multiple welder receptacles, a parts washer, an oil filter crusher, a 50hp compressor, and numerous other specialty power feeds. Each service bay includes a vehicle exhaust evacuation system with remote control of roof mounted equipment. The service area has a subgrade vehicle lube pit with lighting and receptacles installed in compliance with explosion resistant protocols.

In addition to the service area, Geneva’s Ogden shop houses a large office wing, a fully-automatic industrial car wash, and a science lab for testing concrete products. The office area utilizes modular furniture with branch circuit power feeds in shared work areas and fully dimmable lighting in common spaces and private offices. In the large training room, powered window blinds integrate with automatic lighting control. The car wash is supplied with a 200 amp 480v power panel that feeds a control room filled with pumps, boilers, and control equipment. Power installed in the car wash utilizes corrosion resistant materials to ensure long-lasting electrical service. The science lab contains numerous specialty machines with varied power needs as well as workstation exhaust fans with fresh air makeup.

Batch Plant, Washout

This building is a central hub with control pathways and power raceways branching out to silos and mixing equipment around the site. This industrial installation houses main distribution panels, complex motor-control equipment, an enormous boiler, and a network of buried water lines protected by heat trace.  Powered from the Batch Plant, the Washout uses two 50 hp 480v sump pumps to circulate water among multiple settling ponds.
